Leaf: Curved upward on twig. 4-6 centimeters long. Needles light blue/green with a white stripe.
Flower: Male flower is red. Female flower is yellowish brown.
Fruit: Cones are 7.5-13 centimeters long.
Twig: Light brown or gray.
Bark: Smooth, light gray, thick and scaly.
Form: Young trees are conical (cone shaped). Older trees are dome shaped.
This tree is an ornamental tree. These trees are mostly used for Christmas trees. They are mostly found in suburbs and rural areas. They do not live well with pollution. Native Americans used their needles for tea.
They are found in the Colorado Rockies, Idaho, Mexico, New Mexico and, Southwestern California.
There are two of these trees next to the front entrance of Meissner Elementary School, 504 E. Warren, Bunker Hill, IL.
